Council updated on progress of housing study

The Artesia City Council heard a presentation Tuesday from Purchasing Agent Mary Josselyn as well as updates from Economic Developer Director Michael Bunt on the ongoing housing study and from Artesia Fire Chief J.D. Hummingbird about the Little Bear fire.
Before the council moved to approve the bid of sale on multiple properties, Josselyn gave a presentation to the council and the audience on the Artesia Purchasing Department’s general role, along with its policy on “anti-donations.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
Anti-donations, according to the presentation, refer to a state or local government’s ability to “enter into contracts with private persons and entities as long as the government receives something (consideration) in return for their money. State and local governments may not make a donation or grant.”
Michael Bunt approached the council to give an update on the housing study as well as his interactions with housing developers in the hopes of building more homes in Artesia.
