After more than two-and-a-half hours Tuesday night, the City Council approved the budget presented by City Clerk-Treasurer Aubrey Hobson for the 2012-13 fiscal year.
According to the budget, the city is starting with roughly $24.9 million in the bank and plans on receiving about $37.4 million in anticipated revenues. After spending $27.6 million in anticipated operating expenses and $9.1 million on new projects, government vehicles and other large purchases, the city will presumably have $25.5 million remaining to go into the following fiscal year.   … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
Comparing this to last year’s budget, the budget for 2012-13 has an increase in overall anticipated revenues by $2.1 million and a decrease in overall anticipated operating costs by $1.6 million. The ending fund cash balance, $25.5 million, also increased from last year by $613,863.
