Hummingbird presents a plaque with the cover of Fire Chief Magazine featuring the Artesia Public Safety Complex to the family of former Artesia Mayor Manuel Madrid. Hummingbird explained when he came to Artesia in July of 2006, Mayor Madrid asked him to accomplish two things: to revamp the early warning system and to design a new fire station. “It was his vision and his leadership that led to this building,” Hummingbird said. “Not only was it his vision that led to this building, it was recognized nationally.” The plaque reads, “In commemoration of his vision, leadership and commitment to the citizens of the City of Artesia.” The PSC won a Gold Award for shared facilities along with being featured on the cover of the magazine.
