A New Mexico State Police officer has been arrested and charged with battery against a household member after a series of incidents that occurred Saturday.
Sgt. Jason Waller, 35, was arrested in Carlsbad following an investigation by the Carlsbad Police Department.
According to the criminal complaint, at 11:18 a.m. Saturday, CPD officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of Forrest Drive in reference to a male subject bursting into a home and attempting to take a child.
Officers arrived on scene to find a New Mexico State Police sergeant, identified as Waller, on scene and in full uniform, displaying his badge along with two other subjects – one of whom was identified as Waller’s wife.
