A new business south of town has raised concerns throughout the community and ignited online debates.

While critics say the Pink Slipper Gentlemen’s Club will negatively impact the community, co-owner Ronnie Durham insists the club offers adult entertainment in a clean and safe environment.

“People perceive this to be a business that brings in bad issues, but that is not our intent; we are here to provide a service for our customers,” Durham said. “We are not looking to make a negative impact, we are good people trying to run a clean business.”

Durham purchased the building eight miles south of Artesia five years ago but only recently decided to open the business as a gentlemen’s club. He says it is nothing new for the building, which, prior to housing The Branding Iron steakhouse, was a gentlemen’s club. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
