The Artesia City Council will, once again, hold a public hearing for consideration and approval of a new garbage collection ordinance.

The hearing will be held during today’s City Council meeting at 7 p.m.

The garbage collection “polycart” ordinance has been before the council for several months now, and was most recently discussed during the council’s Oct. 11 meeting. However, due to concerns brought forth by residents, the council decided not to take action on the resolution until November.

If approved, the ordinance will allow the city to replace some of the current garbage containers with new roll out “polycarts” containers in areas where a traditional dumpster would not be fit or safe – such as neighborhoods without alleys – and set rules and regulations regarding their use. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
