Council hosts public forum to gather input

There was no shortage of opinions Tuesday night when the Artesia City Council held a public forum to gather input on a proposed ordinance regarding rental properties.

The ordinance, in its current form, would require rental property operators to register their properties with the city and would enable the city to annually inspect the properties to ensure they are up to code.

The meeting was aimed at fielding concerns over the ordinance as well as suggestions for alternatives.
