An Artesia man was arrested Sunday for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman in her home.
According to the report, Jose Davalos, 21, of Artesia, was arrested and charged with attempted criminal sexual penetration, battery and aggravated burglary. The arrest stemmed from an incident that reportedly occurred Thursday.
In her statement to police, the victim said Davalos, who was related to her by marriage, snuck into her home through an open window at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday and allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. The victim said she was able to fight him off and push him into the living room, where he left the home through the front door.
According to the report, Davalos admitted to police during questioning that he snuck into her home. He also said he only “attempted to kiss her.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
