The battle over a three-inch lizard is turning into all out war.
According to a press release from Congressman Steve Pearce’s office, comments were made during a meeting with the office of the director of Fish and Wildlife last month indicating the agency did not have to consider jobs when reaching a decision on the controversial listing of the sand dune lizard to the Endangered Species Act.
“Fish and Wildlife has admitted that economic considerations do not play into decisions to list a species, which raises the questions of their basis for making any economic claims,” the release said. “Nonetheless, Fish and Wildlife talking heads have chosen to publicly claim that no jobs will be lost by the listing, even while ignoring repeated requests for economic data.”
