More than 100 residents show support at rally

More than 100 community members joined together to oppose listing the Sand Dune Lizard as an endangered species with the United States Fish and Wildlife Services in front of the Chamber of Commerce Tuesday evening.

Industry leaders, along with Congressman Steve Pearce, R-N.M., addressed the audience, asking them to continue to support the efforts to oppose listing the lizard.

The speakers called for the audience to gain knowledge about the issue, spread the word about the lizard and show up in numbers at an anti-lizard listing rally to be held in Roswell. Speakers asked the audience to visit takeactionnm.com and tell their friends and family members to join in the lizard listing fight. Speakers called for 1,000 people to attend the Roswell rally to be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 28th at the Great Southwest Aviation Airport Hanger. The rally will directly precede a public hearing held by the Fish and Wildlife Services at the ENMU Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m.
