ARTESIA — Members of Artesia High School Business Professionals of America (BPA)

have elected their officers for the 2019-20 school year.

Officers include Alize Martinez, president; BJ Gallegos, vice president; RyLeigh Greer, secretary; Charisma Calderon, treasurer; and Carley Simer, historian.

The officers will attend the Fall Leadership Rally for Career and Technical Student Organizations Oct. 23 in Artesia.

More than 300 outstanding career and technical-education students will participate in energizing workshops aimed at developing essential leadership skills in the areas of strategic planning, effective communication, teambuilding, and professionalism.

BPA students compete and must receive top honors at the regional level in order to advance to state competition.

The regional conference will be held Dec. 7 in Artesia.

Students from surrounding communities will compete to earn entry into the state conference. That event will be held Feb. 17-19 in Albuquerque.

There, students may earn the opportunity to compete at the national conference in May in Washington, D.C.
