Roosevelt Spillman

Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for Roosevelt J. Spillman.

Spillman, 83, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in Roswell.

Interment followed the services at Woodbine Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Roberts officiating.

Roosevelt was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Extension, La., to Roosevelt and Cora Mae Spillman. He grew up in Louisiana along with 27 brothers and sisters. In 1978, he resided in Artesia.

Survivors include stepmother Betty Spillman; daughters Ella Mathis, Elizabeth Ward, JoAnn Ward, Annie Grant, Lu Ella Ward and Tammy Ward; sons J.B. Mathis and wife Pam, Henry Ward and wife JoAnn, and Willie Ward and wife Doris; and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Cora Spillman.

Roosevelt will be missed by all who knew him.
