John Caraway has announced he will be stepping down as probate judge for Eddy County and issued the following statement:

My second and final term as County Probate Judge will end Dec. 31, 2018. I would like to thank the citizens of Eddy County for allowing me the privilege to serve as your County Probate Judge for the past eight years.

It has been an honor. Because of term limits, I am unable to seek a third term. During the past eight years, my Court has assisted many members of the public with their necessary Probate matters. Also during the past eight years, we have opened nearly 1,000 new Probate cases!

In 2018 alone, we had opened 117 new cases as of the date of this writing, and the year is not yet complete. Additionally, attention needed to be devoted to existing Probate cases which were filed and pending when I came into office.

I also wish to thank all the staff of the County Clerk’s Office for providing the most excellent help necessary to enable the cases to be processed. The office of Probate Judge is an important one for the citizens of this County, and I wholly support the success of the newly elected Probate Judge.

Again, thanks for allowing me to serve you.

John M. Caraway
Eddy County Probate Judge
