Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Dorothy Lee Parrish of Artesia.
Parrish, 90, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at San Pedro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ty Houghtaling and Galen Isaacs will officiate the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Dorothy was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Mayhill to Robert and Lela (Miller) Teel. She grew up at Miller Flats and Hope, graduating from Hope High School.
On June 21, 1945, she married James Leonard Parrish in Roswell.
Dorothy was a homemaker and also worked as a bus driver for the Artesia Public Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She loved her family and getting opportunities to spend time with them. Dorothy often volunteered at the Pecos Valley Baptist Association and was a member of the Artesia Historical Genealogical Society.
Survivors include sons Thomas W. Parrish and wife Patsy of Livingston, Texas, and Glen D. Parrish and wife Vicki of Artesia; daughter Bette Rachel Anglin and husband Bobby of Sweetwater, Texas; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; brothers Robert Teel of Sacramento, Calif., Curtis Teel and wife Kaye of Artesia, and David Teel and wife Sallye of Junction, Texas; brother-in-law Harold Parrish and wife Barbara of Artesia; and sister-in-law Peggy Weatherford of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Parrish, on Jan. 7, 2013; her parents; sister Fay Ann Briggs; brother-in-law Clay Briggs; and sister-in-law Donna Teel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of Portales.
