Fatima Salinas accepts the key to her new home Saturday from Habitat for Humanity board member Kathy Phipps. Salinas’ new home is located at 803 S. Third St., and the organization and family began construction on it in June 2017. Salinas says it took her four applications over a 14-year period to finally be accepted, and she is “forever grateful to Habitat for Humanity and my family members for not letting me give up, to be persistent – and today, persistence paid off.” Salinas will occupy the home with her two sons and one daughter.
