The Artesia Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in Artesia.

Officers were dispatched around 1 a.m. to the area of Fourth Street and Logan avenues, in the vicinity of Guadalupe Park, in reference to 18 calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, police found two male subjects suffering from gunshot wounds.

Fabian Ochoa, 36, of Artesia, was transported to Artesia General Hospital, along with the second male, who has not been identified but was stated to be in his mid-30s. Ochoa succumbed to his injuries. The second male is expected to survive.

The APD says the events leading up to the incident are as yet unclear. Detectives are continuing to gather testimonial evidence, as well as process key evidence found at the scene.
