Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Woodbine Cemetery for Richard “Danny” Tidwell of Artesia.
Tidwell, 68, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, in Roswell.
Ed Hickey will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be J.T. Roberts, Michael Ingram, John R. Robison, Jeff C. Victor, James Brady, Sergio Zapata and Lorenzo Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are Eddy Wallace, Dustin Brady, Lee Blevins, Brandon Blevins, Jim Blevins, Bill Laman, Bill Reede, A.J. Krogman, Mickey Bean and Tommy Munson.
Richard was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Carlsbad to Pershing Tidwell and Aurora Campbell. He came to Artesia in 1969 from Milpitas, Calif.
On July 20, 1973, he married Sandra Blevins in Artesia.
He was a longtime member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed drawing cars, painting cars, metal fabrication, building cars, motorcycles and dune buggies, and attending car shows. He loved his pets and grandkids, and all of his family was his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of the family home; daughters Nora Roberts of Artesia, Debra Joyce Tidwell of Roswell, and Sue Ann Anderson and husband Joshua of Richland, Wash.; son-in-law Sergio Zapata of Roswell; brothers James Tidwell, Robert Tidwell and Paul Tidwell, all of Milpitas; sisters Noralynn Harrington of Phoenix, Ariz., and Adrian Iris Tidwell of Milpitas; sister-in-law Alberta Ingram; grandchildren Morgan Danielle Norman, Taylor Brooke Norman, J.T. Roberts, Julee Ann Ryan, Eve Sanchez, Magnus James Anderson, JuJu Zapata, Chris Zapata and Bella Zapata; and several nieces and nephews, including Tamala Robison, Michael Ingram, Michael Harrington, J.K. Harrington and Paul Tidwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Aurora Rose Tate.
