Artesia native and FFA alumnus Jeff Mayberry, below, gave the opening address this morning to more than 80 New Mexico FFA District V officers from Artesia, Dexter, Hagerman, Roswell, Goddard, Lovington, Carlsbad, Cloudcroft, Hobbs and Hondo high schools to kick of District V’s Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) at the First Baptist Church Total Life Center. “As a leader, every failure should land in your lap,” Mayberry said, “and every victory should be credited to those you lead.” COLT is facilitated by the New Mexico State FFA officer team, comprised of president Annalisa Miller of Des Moines, secretary Lyle Logemann of Elida, District I vice president Brilie Dils of Aztec, District II vice president Sydney Johnson of Des Moines, District III vice president Cabel Cox of Corona, District IV vice president Paden McDermid of Texico, District V vice president Maegan Lemon of Artesia, and District VI vice president Denny Atchley of Las Cruces. The state officers have facilitated COLT workshops in five of the six districts and will conclude with District VI in Las Cruces this afternoon. COLT is designed for the chapter officers in each district to receive leadership training from their district officers. Conducting the training this morning were the District V officer team, comprised of president Maegan Lemon of Artesia, vice president Jimmy Loudermilk of Roswell, secretary Ty Mitchell of Artesia, treasurer Adiel Clark of Hagerman, reporter Maggi Loudermilk of Roswell and sentinel Emma Montgomery of Artesia.
