Jesus Morales

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Eddy County Fairgrounds for Jesus C. Morales of Artesia.

Morales, 83, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in Artesia.

He was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Encino, CC Mexico, and moved to Artesia at a young age.

Jesus worked in the oilfields and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed studying the Bible, volunteering his time in the ministry with his faith, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Morales, of the home; daughter Delma Simons; sons David Morales and Russel Morales; stepdaughters Cynthia Gallegos and Patricia Armendariz; stepson Timothy Gomez; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; nieces Morgan Hammond and Kimberly Hammond, whom he viewed as his granddaughters; brothers Johnny Acosta and Sabino Ramirez; sisters Cruz Salazar, Martha Acosta and Annie Ramirez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie O’Rorke; granddaughter Brianna C. Armendariz; parents Asencion and Mercedes Morales; and numerous brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for Jesus.
