Frances Dominguez

A funeral mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Frances R. Dominguez of No. 6 Mockingbird Lane, Artesia.

Dominguez, 90, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, at Artesia General Hospital.

Fr. Vijay will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace.

Frances was born March 9, 1928, in Artesia to Natividad “Pete” Rubio and Isabel Flores.

She married Tony C. Barela, then divorced. On Nov. 22, 1981, she married Tomas R. Dominguez.

Frances was a homemaker and also nanny to the children of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Moreno, and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Panzer. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Frances will always be remembered as a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and as Lil’ Grandma. This beautiful lady was a one-of-a-kind lady. She lived a long, beautiful life with her kids and grandkids by her side. Frances was loved by her five female dogs and cats; she loved her animals a lot.

Survivors include children Ramona J. Barela of Artesia and Tony Barela of Norwalk, Calif.; granddaughters Liliana M. Pedroza and husband Joel DeHoyos of Ruidoso Downs, Minerva Aranda and husband Lito, and Trista N. Barela and husband Alfonso Sifuentes, both of Artesia, and Phylicia A. Barela of Norwalk; grandson Emiliano Barela of Hobbs; great-grandchildren Angelina F. DeHoyos of Ruidoso Downs, Jovan Grado, Alfonso Sifuentes Jr., Katalayah Sifuentes and Yule “Popos” Aranda III, all of Artesia, and Joaquin E. Barela of Las Cruces; brother Facundo “Chino” Rubio of Carlsbad; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Dominguez, in 2012; her parents, Natividad “Pete” and Isabel Flores Rubio; brother Antonio “Tony” Rubio; sisters Martha Sosaya and Ramona Chavez; and great-granddaughter Precious Angel DeHoyos.
