    ICING THE COMPETITION -- Braden Fuentes receives his first-place ribbon and $25 prize for winning the “Ice” portion of the Fire and Ice chili cook-off and ice cream contest during last week’s Eddy County Fair. Fuentes’s S’mores Ice Cream was a hit with the judges. All contestants in the competition received a “swag bag” containing a towel and pass to the Carlsbad Aquatic Center, an ice cream scoop, and other prizes from area businesses.
