A pickup truck wrecked into the corner of Zia Lact & Controls late Wednesday following a pursuit with Eddy County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Deputies had attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the Ford F-150 at U.S. 285, mile marker 52, but the driver fled, continuing into Artesia. The pickup attempted to head west onto Champ Clark Avenue but failed to negotiate the turn, wrecking into the business. The driver then reversed and struck a sergeant’s patrol vehicle. A short time later, the occupants of the pickup surrendered, and detectives responded to the scene to assist with the serving of a search warrant and a burglary investigation. Additional details will be published as they become available.
