Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Woodbine Cemetery for Tom Chambers of Artesia.

Chambers, 93, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at his home.

He was born April 26, 1925, in Miller County, Ga., the son of Henry Thomas and Sara Della (Lane) Chambers.

In 1947, he married Juanita Sawyer in Abilene, Texas. He married Boncile Poston Branch in 1967 in Juarez, Mexico. She preceded him in death Oct. 6, 2001.

Tom came to Artesia in 1976 from Ft. Stockton, Texas.

He was a pumper in the oilfield and of the Baptist denomination. Tom enjoyed dancing at the Senior Center.

Survivors include son Kenneth Chambers of Artesia; stepsons Bob Branch and Larry Branch; stepdaughter Doris King of Artesia; niece Joyce Wells of Waverly, Va.; granddaughter Crystal Cobb of Dover, Del.; great-grandchildren Cristion and Halle; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons William Chambers and John Chambers; six brothers; and four sisters.

The family wishes to thank Encompass Hospice and Good Life Assisted Living for all of their compassion and care for Mr. Chambers.
