The Roswell Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a shooting that occurred Wednesday.
George Henry Alley, 20, is wanted on charges of two counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting of two 18-year-old males outside a residence in the 90 block of West Byrne Street in south Roswell around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The two men sustained what are believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.
Alley is described as 5’10”, weighing approximately 260 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with potential information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact RPD at 624-6770 or, anonymously, Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS (8477).
Also Wednesday in south Roswell, the RPD was able to apprehend another man soon after a homicide.
Jesus Arreola, 35, was taken into custody shortly after a shooting that occurred around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of a residence in the 1100 block of South Kentucky Avenue.
Arreola, of Portales but living recently in Roswell, is charged with second-degree murder.
Police found the victim, Johnny L. Fleming, 32, of Roswell, lying in his front yard with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he later died.
Arreola was found sitting in a car parked outside the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office soon after. He spoke with a dispatcher and a RPD sergeant while still in the car, and sheriff’s deputies and officers positioned around it could see he was holding a gun. After 20 minutes, Arreola exited the car, leaving the gun inside, and surrendered.
He is being held without bound at the Chaves County Detention Center.
