Joe Lekovich

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. today at The Chapel in Clovis for Joseph Lekovich Jr.

Lekovich, 78, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

Deacon Stephen Garcia will officiate the services.

Joe was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Glendale, W.V., to Joseph and Gladys Lekovich. He moved to Artesia as a young boy and began working for the railroad in 1969. He retired as an engineer after 39 years of service.

Following his retirement, Joe enjoyed spending his time dancing at Baxter-Curren Hall and Kelley’s. He loved coffee, dancing, peanut butter, and fishing.

He has now changed his dancing partners and is kicking up those heels with the angels.

Survivors include children Patricia Grisham and husband Bill, Brenda Dixon and husband Don, Joseph Lekovich III and wife Erin, and Ricky Lekovich and wife Fatima; grandchildren Amy Baker, Kylee Vest, Daniel Dixon, Casey Jabot, Brittany George, Derrick Lekovich and Nickolas Lekovich; and eight-and-a-half great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gladys; brother Robert Lekovich; sister Linda Lekovich; and great-grandchild Cameron Nolan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
