Artesia residents celebrated the arrival of much-needed moisture Saturday afternoon, as around 1 inch of precipitation fell in the city limits over the span of a few hours. Above, pickups splash their way through the large puddle that was the intersection of Fifth and Main streets. While the rainfall was enjoyed by most, the force of it, along with accompanying winds, left behind a bit of damage, as well. Below, the recently-renovated 510 Building, property of the Artesia Arts Council and headquarters of Artesia MainStreet, was struck when the billboard to its immediate west came crashing down. There was no word as to any damage sustained by the building.
