The local Burger King was damaged Wednesday after being struck by a car. Artesia Police Department officers were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to the restaurant in reference to an accident. Upon arrival, they found a silver Dodge sitting over the curb on the east side of the building. The Dodge had sustained heavy damage to its front bumper, and the wall of Burger King was pushed inward, collapsing on the inside from the impact. Police interviewed the driver, who stated she had inadvertently pressed the accelerator and slammed into the building. The driver was transported to Artesia General Hospital by family with minor injuries. The cause of the wreck was determined to be driver inattention.
