Each Thursday during the months of March and April, Devon Energy employees joined forces with local volunteers to fill more than 1,300 backpacks for children participating in weekend food programs in several communities in Southeast New Mexico.

In addition to employee volunteer hours, Devon donated $40,000 to the backpack programs and two food banks, which will provide approximately 300,000 meals. Supported organizations include: Packs of Love in Artesia, Packs for Hunger in Carlsbad, Weekend Hunger Initiative in Hobbs, Lovington Food Coalition, and West Texas Food Bank.

“We’re proud of our employees who value giving back to their communities,” said Devon Energy Senior Operations Superintendent Dan Werner. “We’re pleased to partner with these vital groups and are thankful for their dedication to easing food insecurity issues that affect the communities where we operate.”
