Lonnie Archer

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Lonnie Archer of Lake Arthur.

Archer, 71, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at his home.

Galen Isaacs will officiate the services. Honorary pallbearers are Don Carter, J.W. Calaway and Perry Conner.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Lonnie was born July 3, 1946, in Clovis, the son of Lonnie Sr. and Mary Frances (Droigk) Archer. He came to Artesia in 1962 from Alamogordo.

On June 13, 1969, he married Serena Fine in Artesia.

Lonnie loved the oilfield and was a supervisor for many years. He was a member of Lake Arthur Baptist Church and the National Hot Rod Association. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and mechanics. He was a huge Lonesome Dove fan.

Survivors include his wife, Serena, of the family home; son Donald Archer and wife Abby of Artesia; daughter Sheila Chase and husband Danny of Artesia; sister Mary Ellen Means of Hobbs; grandchildren Kara Chase and Paul Bratcher, Kelsi Orquiz and husband Richard, Hazer Archer and wife Kayli, and Teagan Bratcher and husband Toby; and great-grandchildren Adaleine Bratcher, Bentley Orquiz and Bradley Orquiz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vicki Archer.

The family has invited oilfield workers and friends to wear their overalls to the services, if they would like, in honor of Lonnie.
