The Lincoln National Forest has issued a closure order for resource protection and the protection of public health and safety.

The closure order will include areas fenced by temporary electric fences within Agua Chiquita and Wills Canyon on the Lincoln National Forest. The LNF says the closure is necessary to protect people from electric shock and protect endangered species habitat. The closure will remain in effect until Nov. 15 and restricts all entry into the restricted area. No authorized roads or trails will be included in the closure.

Exceptions to the closure include: persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission; any federal, state or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force, engaged in the performance of an official duty; grazing permit holders removing livestock; and hunters retrieving game animals.

For additional information about the closure on the Sacramento Ranger District, contact Ciara Cusack at 575-682-2551 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
