A fire noticed last week by many motorists along U.S. 285 North was possibly started by a vehicle failure, Eddy County Fire Services Director Joshua Mack says. The April 11 fire was contained to the median between the north- and southbound lanes of 285 and was quickly extinguished by the Atoka Volunteer Fire Department.
