Darrel Dixon

Darrel Mathew Dixon, 52, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas.

He was born March 25, 1965, in Roswell to Howard Dixon and Barbara Ward. He grew up in Roswell with his family ad played football during his high school and college years, among other sports.

Darrel worked as a driller and oilfield hand for many years. He was a hard worker and had many different skills. He had a love for motorcycles and fixing cars, and also loved spending his time fishing.

Darrel enjoyed life and always lived it to the fullest. He was a strong and independent man who cared deeply for his family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Daniel Dixon and Caryn Dixon, both of Artesia; mother of his children Cindy Dixon; parents Howard and Barbara Dixon of Ft. Sumner; sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Michael Towler of Artesia; partner of the home Cody Hawkins of Artesia; and his nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial barbecue for family and friends will be held in his honor at noon Saturday, March 31, at Jaycee Park.
