Andrea Nayares

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Andrea P. Nayares of Artesia.

Nayares, 60, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at her home.

Interment will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon – 7:30 p.m. Friday at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace.

Andrea was born May 23, 1957, in Municipio San Bernardo, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Bernardino Pizarro and Norberta Arredondo. She came to Artesia in 1974 from Mexico.

Andrea worked in housekeeping for Mack Energy Corp. before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Santa Lucia church choir, and enjoyed plants, keeping fish, traveling, singing, and time with her kids and grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother, Norberta Arredondo, of Sardinas, Dgo., Mexico; sons Armando Nayares of Artesia and Octavio Nayares of Las Cruces; daughters Cecilia Nayares and Melissa Nayares, both of Artesia; brothers Joaquin Pizarro, Alvaro Pizarro, Antonio Pizarro, Lucio Pizarro and Lorenzo Pizarro; sisters Natividad Luevano, Bernardina Gutierrez, Ascencion Santiago and Teresa Lopez; and grandchildren Joshua, Khloe, Ayled and Abraham.

She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, and one sister.
