Devon, which ranked 92nd, is among two oil and natural gas producers to make the 2018 list, which was released Thursday.
“Ours is a constantly changing industry, and we’ve introduced some innovative concepts in our field operations to accelerate our performance,” said Dan Werner, senior superintendent of Devon’s Delaware Basin operations. “It’s gratifying to know that even with the industry’s traditional practices changing right before our eyes, Devon remains committed to those qualities that have long made this company a great place to work.”
Devon’s placement on the Fortune list was based largely on an anonymous survey of all U.S. employees conducted by the Great Place to Work Institute. Employees overwhelmingly responded that Devon offers a welcoming environment, meaningful work, a commitment to work-life balance and leaders who are approachable, honest and ethical. Notably, 94 percent said they are proud to tell others they work at Devon.
The Fortune list is the leading measure of workplace culture in the United States. Companies on the list generally attract a higher number of qualified job applicants and experience lower turnover rates, according to the Great Place to Work Institute.
Devon has about 240 field employees for its Delaware Basin operations, with a primary office in Artesia, New Mexico. Devon is a leading independent energy company engaged in finding and producing oil and natural gas. Based in Oklahoma City and included in the S&P 500, Devon operates in several of the most prolific oil and natural gas plays in the U.S. and Canada with an emphasis on achieving strong returns.
