Crime Stoppers of Eddy County is seeking the public’s assistance in solving an aggravated burglary and battery that occurred Christmas Eve in Artesia.

At approximately 8 p.m. Dec. 24, 2017, Derrick Torres and Jennifer Cereceres returned to their home at 1308 W. Lolita Ave. to find their front door had been forced open. The two entered the home, interrupting a burglary in progress.

Torres and Cereceres struggled with the male individual, who stabbed them both before fleeing.

The suspect is described as 5’7” tall with a stocky build. He would have suffered injuries to his lower legs and right hand-arm area in the struggle.

The man fled the scene in a 2006 or newer model white four-door sedan, pictured at left. The sedan may have damage to the rear driver’s side bumper or fender area.

Between 11 a.m. and noon Jan. 13, Torres and Cereceres were burglarized once again. Forced entry was made through the rear door of their home, and the thieves escaped with an Emerson Element 55” television and Vizio sound bar.

Anyone with information relating to these crimes is asked to contact Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously in one of three ways, and information leading to an arrest could result in a cash reward.
