The Artesia City Council will hold a pair of public hearings – one for the vacation of a portion of public right-of-way and one for a possible street name change – at its regularly-scheduled meeting Tuesday.
Up for consideration and public comment will be:
• Case No. 17-05, which calls for the vacation of five feet of city-owned public right-of-way along the east side of the 100 block of South 11th Street. The action is being requested by Wendtesia, LLC, and the Artesia Public Schools and pertains to the impending construction of a Wendy’s in that block.
• Case No. 17-06, which requests a street name change for the 1400 block of South Runyan Avenue. City staff and residents are requesting that portion of Runyan be renamed “Adams Drive.”
The city will also consider a Memorandum of Understanding with the Artesia Aquatic Center Foundation, as detailed in the article in today’s Daily Press.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in Council Chambers at City Hall.
