Artesia Public Schools students throughout the district will be receiving their second nine weeks report cards today. Students at Artesia High School are back in full swing on this “report card day,” as they prepare for a busy remainder of the month. The band is in Albuquerque for the remainder of the week participating in All-State clinics and concerts at the Albuquerque All-State Music Festival, Park Junior High FFA members are participating in contests in Hagerman today, the state championship football team will have their end-of-season banquet Thursday night, the boys’ basketball team will be competing in Los Alamos Friday night and Del Norte Saturday afternoon, and the girls’ basketball team will be competing in Santa Teresa Friday evening before returning to Bulldog Pit Saturday to take on Academy. There will be no school Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the swim team will hold the Artesia Invitational in Carlsbad Saturday, Jan. 20. The Chase Foundation Scholarship information meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 22, in the training room of the APS Administration Building. The band solo and ensemble contest will be in Artesia Saturday, Jan. 27, and winding down January will be a blood drive on Jan. 31 in the special services room at the high school.
