The Artesia Police Department is continuing to investigate an incident of shots fired that occurred late Friday evening, Dec. 15, on Champ Clark Avenue.

Officers were dispatched at around 11:50 p.m. Dec. 15 to 806 Champ Clark Ave. in reference to shots fired. There, they found the occupants of multiple houses in the block outside inspecting their vehicles.

No damage was found at the reporting residence, but occupants informed police they had heard numerous gunshots just north of their home.

A resident from a home in that area came forward and informed officers she had located some bullet holes in her shed. Police processed the area for evidence and found shell casings.

A vehicle in the block was also struck by a bullet. No injuries were reported.

Cmdr. Lindell Smith of the APD says leads are continuing to be investigated, and suspects could be developed. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the APD’s Criminal Investigation Division at 746-5032.
