The Artesia City Council will hold a trio of public hearings pertaining to the municipal code at their regularly-scheduled meeting Tuesday.

The hearings will begin near the start of the meeting, with the first regarding a possible ordinance to amend Section 1-6-6B of the Artesia Municipal Code. That section pertains to promotions, stating promoted employees will receive an increase in pay to the closest higher rate of pay within their new pay grade, and that in order to be promoted, an employee must be upgraded in pay and apply for the vacancy.

In the second hearing, the council will consider amendments to six sections of the Uniform Traffic Ordinance, and in the third, consideration will be given to the adoption of a Project Participation Agreement between the City of Artesia and Chase Energy Services, pursuant to the specifications set forth in Section 2-4-8 of the municipal code.

The council will also consider approval of six hires — four within the police department and one apiece in streets and human resources — one voluntary demotion, and two promotions, and approval of a resolution setting requirement for applications for public events, use of city facilities, and waivers of fees.

The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Council Chambers at City Hall.
