Artesia High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) has elected its officers for the 2017-18 school year.

Serving as president will be Chase Smith, vice president is Camille Douglas, and Hannah Wesson will serve as secretary, Alexis Gomez as treasurer, and Brooke Soleman as historian.

The officers will be attending the Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence (CORE) Leadership Conference for Career and Technical Student Organizations Oct. 23 in Albuquerque. More than 300 outstanding career and technical education students will participate in energizing workshops developing essential leadership skills in the areas of strategic planning, effective communication, teambuilding, and professionalism.

BPA students compete and must receive top honors at the Regional level in order to advance to State Competition. The regional conference will be held Dec. 16 Hagerman. Students from surrounding communities will compete to earn entry into the State Conference, which is scheduled for Feb. 22-24, 2018, in Albuquerque. Students may also earn the opportunity to compete at the National Conference in May in Dallas, Texas.
