PORTALES – The Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) Chamber Choir is undertaking a four-day tour next week in southern New Mexico, beginning in Artesia.

The repertoire for this year’s tour includes music by composers such as Zelenka, Gallus, Gjeio, Passereau, Timingh, Wagner, Forrest and Kirchner. Morgyn Gallegos will be featured as a student conductor. Dr. Jisook Park will accompany the ensemble.

“It is an annual tradition for the Chamber Singers to perform for schools throughout the state and region,” said Jason Paulk, ENMU director of Choral Activities. “We will begin our tour in Artesia at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22. At our first performance, we are thrilled to have our ENMU Trumpet Ensemble joining us. It has been quite some time since we sang for audiences in Artesia, and I’m hopeful we will have a nice turnout.”

All performances are free and open to the public. However, those planning to attend performances being held within school buildings need to check with district officials to request permission to listen to the concert performance.

The scheduled tour dates are:

  • Sunday, Oct. 22: 6 p.m., Artesia High School Auditorium
  • Monday, Oct. 23: 10 a.m., Roswell High School Theater; 3 p.m., Ruidoso High School choir room
  • Tuesday, Oct. 24: 10 a.m., Las Cruces High School choir room; 1 p.m., Centennial High School choir room
  • Wednesday, Oct. 25: 9 a.m., Mayfield High School choir room
