Have you ever had to rely on the kindness of strangers in an hour of need?
Most of us have, and we can’t always locate the generous stranger(s) to thank them personally. Another way to show our appreciation can be by paying it forward — in other words, by turning around and providing a similar act of kindness and generosity for another person in need.
One way to do this is by donating blood. United Blood Services has a series of blood drives set up in Artesia in the near future, and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend one of them and donate blood. They even have a “Hero In Me” program that rewards repeat donors with gifts! (www.bloodhero.com)
The Artesia General Hospital recently held a blood drive on their premises, and there are several more scheduled around Artesia:
• Aug. 23: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at HollyFrontier
• Sept. 6: 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Jack Case Community Room at CVE
• Sept. 15: 2-5:30 p.m. at the Commission On Aging
• Sept. 29: 8-11 a.m. at PVT
Donations can also be scheduled by appointment at www.bloodhero.com or by calling 877-827-4376.
