Gavin Soto

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at West Main Baptist Church for Gavin Soto of Artesia.

Soto, 20, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, in Artesia.

Keith Kilpatrick will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Gavin was born Oct. 6, 1996, in Carlsbad, the son of Jason J. Tavera and Monica J. Soto. He was raised by his sweet and loving grandparents, Roberta C. Soto and Isreal Soto.

Gavin was loved by all his brothers, sisters, family and friends. He had a big heart and loved unconditionally. He had an amazing smile that could brighten anyone’s day.

Gavin loved skateboarding, art, music, and making people laugh and smile. He was ONE OF A KIN.

Survivors include his grandparents, Roberta and Isreal Soto; birth parents Monica Soto and Jason Tavera and wife Andria; siblings Jason Tavera II, Loretta Tavera, Alexis Soto, Maribel Tavera, Marcos Tavera, Raul Angel Valencia, Joel Valencia, Mateo Tavera, Jonathan Soto and Mauricio Tavera; and aunts and uncles Ruby Lozada, John Tavera, Micjey Munoz, Jeanette “Tweety” Silva, Marie Soto Hanel and Olivia Soto Guthrie.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Frances Tavera, and an uncle, Raul Soto Jr.
