The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of an inmate who escaped from the Sandoval County Detention Center.
Paul Garcia, 25, is believed to be still on the run after he was reported missing Friday from the detention center.
Garcia was one of two inmates who escaped. As of Saturday, Blake McPherson is back in custody. He was held on property crime charges.
Garcia is involved in a stolen van crash that killed a girl and her mother earlier this year. Garcia had been at the center awaiting a court date.
Officials say the men were able to escape through a hole the detention center’s recreation yard fence and then climbed onto the roof. The pair ditched their orange jumpsuits at a nearby construction site. Officials found a trail of footprints that led to the Rio Grande.
