Mature drivers will have the opportunity to make their vehicle “fit” their needs in order to increase safety and mobility on the road during an AARP CarFit Checkup event next week.

CarFit, a free, interactive and educational program, will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Senior Center parking lot, 202 W. Chisum Ave.

Attendees will be able to review 12 key areas of “fitting” to their vehicles, including adequate space from the steering wheel, proper seatbelt use, and properly adjusted head restraints. Participants will also learn to use and adjust safety devices.

The event is not a driving test or mechanical inspection.

Each checkup takes approximately 20 minutes. Appointments are required by calling 505-856-6143. Space is limited.
