Don’t miss Car Show weekend in Artesia and all the great entertainment at night!

After the cruise portion Friday, March 31, of the Main Event Car Show and Cruise, Surf’s Up: The Beach Boys Tribute from San Diego, Calif., will be mainstage at 7 p.m. at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center.

Surf’s Up is one of the first true Beach Boys tribute bands in the world. They have been perfecting and recreating the Beach Boys sound for 25 years – literally since they were kids. Keeping it in the family, the band consists of two brothers, Donny and Danny Goldberg; their father, Don Goldberg Sr., founded the group.

These veterans will bring the magical “Sound of Summer” to the show!

After the car show Saturday, April 1, Vinyl Stripes, a rockabilly, rock-n-roll, drive-in, surf music, early Elvis and Sun Records kind of band, performs at 7 p.m. at the OPAC.

It’s that classic ‘50s and ‘60s sound that influences the Texas-based band. With their skinny ties, ‘50s pork pie hats, Gretsch guitars, and slappin’ bass and retro rocking drums, Vinyl Stripes performs all the classics.

Before the concert, don’t miss Roxanne Turner’s free reception for her art exhibit at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the OPAC lobby.

Tickets are $35 each for Surf’s Up, $30 each for the Vinyl Stripes, and may be purchased online at www.artesiaartscouncil.com or at the OPAC box office, 746-4212.

You don’t want to miss this great weekend of cars, food, music and art!
