A Lovington man was killed Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle wreck.

New Mexico State Police officers were dispatched just before 10 p.m. Wednesday to Avenue R near the intersection of 17th Street in Lovington in reference to the accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle driven by Daniel Knoll, 34, of Lovington, was travelling east on Avenue R. As it approached a curve in the roadway, Knoll lost control, and the vehicle exited the road, struck a dirt embankment, and overturned.

Knoll was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene..
