The Eddy County Commission will swear in its new fire marshal during a regularly-scheduled meeting Tuesday in Carlsbad.

Joshua R. Mack will replace Kevin Hope as Eddy County’s fire marshal and director of Fire Services. Hope was recently hired as the new chief at the Artesia Fire Department, where he spent 12 years before taking the county job last July.

The commission will also hear a presentation on the county’s Comprehensive Plan by Community Services Director Wesley Hooper and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership by John Cornell.

The Comprehensive Plan is currently available for viewing online at www.eddycounty.org.

On its trailing agenda, the board of commissioners will hear information on a household hazardous waste collection event from Public Works Director Ray Romero and a landfill scale house and shop budget increase from Facilities Director Brian Stephens.

Stephens will also request permission to relocate the Eddy County DWI Program to the county courthouse in Carlsbad, and Mack will present PERA Volunteer Firefighters Annual Reporting.

The board will adjourn to executive session to discuss the employee group vision plan and the annual evaluation and contract review of Assistant County Manager Kenney Rayroux.
