An Artesia man was arrested on a battery charge after allegedly shoving his mother.
Officers arrived at a residence in the 1100 block of West Sears Avenue just before 4 p.m. April 5 in reference to a family disturbance.
There, they made contact with a woman who, crying, informed them her adult son had poured a five-gallon jug of water onto her and pushed her several times.
APD made contact with the son, identified as Jaime Wesson, 42, of Artesia, who – according to the report – told them he was disabled and was treated “like a dog” by his mother. Wesson told officers he pushed her because she “wouldn’t get out of my face.”
Officers also observed a broken chair in the living room and broken glass on a patio end table. The mother informed them Wesson breaks furniture when upset and stated he is “verbally abusive” toward her.
Sufficient cause was determined to request a warrant for Wesson’s arrest on charges of battery against a household member. He was taken into custody Tuesday.
