The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers of Eddy County are seeking the public’s assistance regarding the homicide of a Roswell man found dead Sunday on Haystack Road south of Artesia.

ECSO deputies were dispatched Sunday to Haystack and Four Dinkus roads, where they found the body of Danny E. Mendes, 49, of Roswell lying in the roadway. He is believed to have been killed sometime between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The ECSO Detective Division says Mendes was last seen leaving Dexter in a 1990s-model green Ford Taurus with an unidentified male and female.

The ECSO is currently seeking a light-tan Mazda 3, possibly driven by Chris Candeleria, an individual deputies believe may have information regarding the homicide.
